We’ve decided to be optimists here at Emke Schaab ClimateCare. We believe the warm weather is coming back and your air conditioner is going to get a workout yet this year. So, to help prepare for the hot spells, which may result in no cooling for some people, here is a quick list of things to check before you call in for an emergency service call.
1. Check batteries in thermostat
2. Lower the temperatures setting a couple degrees and listen to whether the unit kicks in
3. Check that the air filter is clean
4. Check the outdoor disconnect is turned on
5. Check breakers or fuses on electrical panel
6. If none of the above has fixed the issue, contact your service contractor for a service call
7. Even if the first 5 options have solved the issue, make sure to get your unit serviced annually by a professional – they will check charge levels, temperatures, clean the coil and more.
