Door to door salespeople can be a pain! They can be pushy, seem really convincing, and their deals too good to be true. Thankfully the Ontario Government took notice of the issues with door-to-door salespeople last winter and brought forward legislation to protect consumers by increasing the 10-day cooling off period to 20-days. This means as of July 1, 2014, you have 20-days to cancel a contract that you signed at your door with no penalty. For more information, visit the Consumers Protection Ontario website.
Now if you have spoken to a door-to-door salesperson and questions have arisen, please contact your service contractor. Since the company you work with should know your system (even if the office has to contact a technician), they should be able to answer your questions and steer you in the right direction.
